Hi guys i want some advice from you i have some headphones in mind and i want to know which ones would suit the most. The headphones i have in mind are

  • Superlux HD668B Dynamic Semi-Open Headphones
  • Audio Technica ATH-AD300 Open-Air Dynamic Headphone
  • Shure SRH240 Professional Quality Headphones
  • Philips SHL9560/10 White HeadBand Headphones
  • Koss UR40 Collapsible Over-Ear Headphones
  • Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones
  • Panasonic RP-HTF600-S Stereo Headphones
  • Sennheiser HD 419 or HD 429

I also plan on buying an amp for the headphones(Any advice on any amp would be great)

My style of music is wide but my favorite bands are Daft Punk, The Beatles, Gorrilaz, and Coldplay. The styles of music that i like are Rock(old, alternative, and some new), Techno(House, Electronic, and Dubstep), and a bit of everything.

I like my headphones to have great voice and with a decent bass.

Ooh and should i buy an amp or not.

Of the headphones on your list, I've only heard the Panasonics.  I fell into the hype.  They are fun at first, but then I grew tired of them.  They just aren't good headphones.

As far as the other headphones, I have not heard them and cannot comment.

But, as far to amping, I say all headphones scale with amping.  Proper amping can only improve their sound, but it may range from very subtle to quite drastic, depending on the actual headphone.  I think once you pick out the headphone you want, then you can decide if you want to amp it.

What is the maximum you're willing to spend?

That is the problem that i have a low budget but i would say no more that 70 at max

You can get some damn good headphones for $70 or less, as long as you know what compromises you are willing to make.

You can look into the Sony MDR-V6 and MDR-ZX500 as decent starting points.  While some audiophiles turn their nose to Sony headphones, I think they make some good headphones for their respective price brackets.

If you can stretch your budget a bit, I've found the Ultrasone 580's to work very nicely with rock and techno and require no amp to perform well. You can get them at B&H for $120 and I'd say they're definitely worth it.

I was researching the Sennheiser HD 419 and they seem to fit my style and price rage. Just as random question what headphones do you own???

I own the Beyerdynamic DT990 and Sennheiser HD600.

The HD419s are nice little cans.  I'm a Sennheiser fan.  You can do a lot worse for $70, but actually, not too much better.

I really like the creative aurvana live. amazon sells them for $55-60 frequently (they're currently 100).   Unfortunately, I haven't heard any of the other ones on your list so I can't compare, but I really enjoy them for rock, and they have a decent amount of bass, and might go well with your other musical tastes as well.  Maybe some of the other posters can comment, as I'm still very new here.

I hate to name stereotype, but I'd take Sennheisers every time over Creative.  Yes, I'm generalizing, but that's just me.  YMMV.

Creative Aurvana Live! sometimes drop down to $55-60 range.  Not at the moment though.  You have to watch for sales at Amazon. Unlike hodgjy, those would be my first recommendation for you.

The Samson SR850 is $49 right now, and would be an acceptable choice also.   Its very similar to the Superlux 668.

The Shure 440 is just barely over your $70 limit, but another to consider.

The Fostex drivers used in the CAL's make them worthy of consideration.

Thank you Kerry for your advice but I am highly thinking between the Samson SR850 and the Sennheiser HD 419 or maybe the Shure 440. I would wait a bit and see what other have to say.
