This is a review of a pair of free IEM's I recieved from DUNU as part of a give away contest they recently held here on Head-fi. When I recieved my package the first thing I notices was...

Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

Also, since I am gonna be playing the music from my phone, I can't carry around an amp anyways. I would be using them during school, that's why I want no leakage.

My current headphones, are earbuds. The ones that came with my phone, they can be called the iBeats. I hate earbuds. They are annoying. But they sound alright. So, if that sound quality is considered bad, then yeah. I mainly want headphones that look good, and don't leak sound. Sound quality is a second priority. I know how backwards I sound right now, haha. So far, the only headphones that are visually appealing are the AKG K272 HD. I like how those huge ear cups look. That's what I'm looking for. I also love the way the Akg Q701's look, but I heard those leak pretty bad.
No worries, It's better that you be honest about it. The Q701 are completely open and do leak bad. Are you buying from Amazon or a 3rd party seller? If your item "ships from Amazon" I'd give the K271 a try because you will be able to call amazon and return them. If your buying from a 3rd seller I wouldn't risk it.
The main problem with the K271 is that while it doesn't need incredible power to sound great, it does need an amp behind it in order to have a full bass. Many people buy it for portable use like you are and end up not being satisfied with it's bass. If you order it go in knowing it may not have enough bass on the Rezound.
I'd go to a Verizon store and test it myself for you but Verizon employees might do horrible things to me if I try to plug my own peripherals into their phones...

The K271 MKII don't leak at all and they isolate a lot, they're studio phones after all. No worries here.
Is the leakage the same for the K272's and the K271's? And if so, then what are the differences?

No, there isn't a difference in leakage between the models or the earpads. Simply put, the AKG K271 MKII is a studio headphone while the K272HD is a consumer version.
The K271 comes with 2 removable cables; a coiled cable and a very long straight cable. The first cable is too long and the second is fairly heavy. It also comes with both pleather and velour earpads. The K272HD has a better sized non-removable straight cable and only comes with the velour pads. Otherwise they are the same exact headphone. The main problem is that the K271 MKII often goes for around $150 dollars while the K272HD goes for $230. The K271 is also not being offered by Amazon as a seller and the 3rd party seller's may have different return policies.
I'd say if you like the looks of the K272HD more, don't need the extras and don't mind paying $100 more dollars the K272HD will be the more convenient version. The K272HD is currently being offered by amazon as a seller so if you buy it and don't like it returning it won't be a problem and the velour pads are also much more comfortable for long listening sessions than the pleather pads.

I guess I will go with the K271 MKII. For the sake of price. Also, can you buy more convenient cords for it?

Not really, the only after market cables fort the K271 are Cardas Cables which cost more than the headphones themselves :P
I just tried walking around the house listening to music with with both cables and the coiled cable really isn't as heavy as I had thought. The length is also fine on the coiled cable. If want to use the straight cable and don't mind tying it up then you'l be fine there too. I'd be sure to buy it from a seller with "fulfillment by amazon" though.

Okay. And I am buying it from someone that says that.

the k271 is a neutral to cool sounding can off an ipad for instance,
but will be well energised by a dap like the new hisoundaudio roocooP.
this can is big sounding, very light on the head, isolates reasonably well.
and u can toss it around, no worries.
i had a good time with it once upon a time, playing it off a small hisoundaudio roocooA then.
