HRT Music Streamer II or HeadStreamer

I'm looking for a solution to crappy onboard sound from my car pc. I've looked into full blown sound cards but they take up too much space (Asus xonar essence stx was the one I looked at).  So that leaves me with a host of usb products.  HRT seems to hit my price point at about 150 but I am having an issue deciding between the music streamer 2 and the headstreamer.  Many people state that if you are using headphones go with the headstreamer and with external amplification the music streamer.  The headstreamer product post clearly states that the volume is controlled through windows. The product information for the music streamer leaves out any mention to a volume control, which would be fine in a home environment but not with car amplifiers.

 

So basically can you control the music streamer's volume through windows?

I just got an ms2 and I can control the volume level through windows
