Choose a better airline? On Air Canada, they have power jacks even in economy. Charge while you listen. Problem solved.

Hah, that's up to our company, no comment!   Budget tightening in the last couple years is all I'll say....

You could always get a nice battery pack to extend the life to 15 hours.

I don't care how good a unit is, why listen to audiophile music on a plane with all of the noise you encounter. Even with my JH13's, there is no way to really enjoy high quality sound.

I thought these customs give really good isolation? I hear the SA-43 give up to 40dB of isolation. Wouldn't that be literally "killer isolation?"

I honestly do very well with my ES5 on airplanes. Perhaps the tight fit and vinyl tips.

The low rumble goes through the bones, no matter how much you isolate you can't get rid of that and I find it distracting to good music and detail. 

I'm pretty confident that there's no battery pack that can extend the runtime of the DX100.  The micro USB is for data transfer, while there's a regular barrel power plug in to charge it, from the looks of things.

USB power pack with a cable like this?

My shure 535 isolates amazingly well in airplanes. Also, depending on music jh 16 can even mask airplane jet engine (This is where jh 16 differences really shines.).Bose quietcomfort 15 also does pretty good.   I’ve never really had any trouble listening to quality music in airplanes.  We take turns watching our daughter, sleeping, listening to music, etc.
