I want some open headphones for games and music but mainly music. I listen to mainly alternative rock, techno and some rap and pop. I like some bass in my music but would prefer sound quality over bass. comfort is also important as I spend a lot of time in front of the computer. I heard that the AD-700s are good but I would like to have more input from an audiophile forum.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

If you want bass, the ATH-AD700 is not the best choice, although it is good for competitive gaming. For that price, you could get an HD558 instead. Some more budget would be enough for a DT990 Pro, which is good for gaming, techno, and rap, but may possibly need an amplifier. The FA-011 may also be worth checking, as it is said to have good bass and overall sound quality, but other than that I do not know much about it.

I do prefer my HD-558s over the ATH-AD700.
