just wondering if the e6 will automatically shut off after some time, or if I have to do it manually??

You'll have to do it manually.

Bee, how are you enjoying your Fiio?  I have one and hardly use it.  For me, the sound improvement is not worth the hassle of hooking it up. I really wonder about these people who say they hear a difference of night and day.  Recently, a rep for an audio company told me any amp under $100 wasn't even worth considering.  If your cans can be driven sufficiently by the source then no need to amplify with something subpar was his opinion.

I bought the e6 for a specific purpose.

I listen to headphones through my TV's line out, and there is no volume control and very low volume.

So yes, I am enjoying the e6 for that purpose - but connected to my ipod, I heard no difference (besides the bass boost function).

I do however own the e9+e10, and I will say that I DO hear a difference with them connected to my Macbook.

Not night and day difference, but nicer sound nonetheless.

Both e9 & e10 are under $100, so go figure.

I'm a gadget guy - so even if there is little improvement, or improvement not worth the price tag, I still enjoy researching and using budget amps/DACs. Next, I am going to get the Hifi Man EF2a to pair with my Grado 225i's while listening to vinyl. Have you heard the EF2a?
