Need help deciding on my first pair

Hi guys, just registered but I've been viewing this forums for a few months and trying to research as much as possible on which headphones I should buy.  I am a gamer who plays a lot of FPS games but I also like to listen to music.  My music tastes are probably 50% rock/50% hip hop & rap.  I have been thinking either a Sennheiser HD598 or a Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro.  I do enjoy a good amount of bass every now and then so I have been leaning a little more towards the DT990 but everyone says the HD598 is a pretty good overall headset but lacking a little in the bass department so I'm pretty undecided.  So I am thinking the DT990 would fit my needs but not sure how it is for games.  Also, if I was to get that, would a fiio e6 be enough to drive the 250 ohm impedence DT990?

The DT990 is very good in the bass department.  Better than the 598s.  If you're a bass head, the 990s will make you happy.  I think your amp choice is more than adequate to drive the 250 ohm version.

Get the DT990, sure the mids aren't great but I thought from my brief experience with them that they were at least on par with the HD598.

Are you sure that the e6 is enough?  I am just making sure because my friend is telling me that I really need an e9.  I'll get an e9 if I have to but I'd definitely rather get the e6 if it's all I need because of the price difference.  Are the mids washed out by the bass?  Does anyone have any input on the DT990 for gaming?

If you're into FPS buying a basshead headphone affects positional accuracy.

Buy 2 sets instead.

I wouldn't try it on anything greater than 250 ohms.  At least on paper, it says it can drive 16 mW into 300 ohms.  The 990s are rated at 96 db per mW.  On paper, they should be plenty loud.

According to the comparison thread by Mad Lust Envy, the DT990 does have good positional accuracy, despite the emphasized bass.

In practice, it is more likely to be about 12 mW into 250Ω (~1.7 V) with no clipping according to measurements.
