HD650's E7/E9 combo issue, defective E7 or E9?

Hey thanks to those who are even checking this thread.

I just received my e7/e9 combo and there seems to be an issue.

When i have the E7 docked into the E9 using only the USB for the line in i lose sound in my left ear on my HD650's.

However if i don't touch my headphones, unplug the USB. Switch to the 3.5mm line in running from my X-fi, i get sound in both ears. So i don't think it's the headphone jack.

Am i doing something wrong?

Note: i get sound in both ears with each device when they aren't docked.

Try plugging your headphones into another source, like an iPod, stereo receiver, or a computer sound card.  If you get sound in both ears then, I'd say your Fiio combo is defective.

I found this while searching. Sounds like a ton of people have the same problem. Which leaves me thinking i'm screwed.

Anyone know if a solution has been found?
