Suggestions for new headphones

Newbie here. I have been researching headphones for a while now and have learned that the forums here at head-fi are among the most respectable out there. I am sure this question is asked a million times but I am going to ask it anyway. What should a newbie like me buy? I just bought the V-Moda M-80's and the sound is incredible but they get uncomfortable for me to wear beyond an hour. So I am looking for some alternate suggestions. Here is some things I like about the M-80's. Single cord, noise isolating, great range of sound (it is like I am hearing music for the first time) and durable construction. My cost range is $100-199. I am ALL over in music  from Amy Winehouse to Metallica. I listen to it all. Like I said, the M-80's turned me on, but the comfort thing is an issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I am not looking at Beats or the like, I am not looking to be street cool. -- Thanks!

In what way? Do you ears get hot? All closed headphones make ears hot after a while. You could try open headphones if you want comfort and don't need isolation. if you want isolation without hot ears, then get an in ear canal earphone(IEM).

If you can't stand IEMs and want a closed headphone that is more comfortable than most, you could try the Beyerdynamic DT770.

The 250 ohm version needs an amp for use with an mp3 player.  The 80 ohm version is more suitable if you want to use it with a portable.

My ears getting warm is something I can get used to and I like the noise isolation aspect of that as well. It is mostly the pressure. Since the M-80's are pretty flexible I have been trying to "bend" them out a little and maybe shape them better. I tried the lower end Bose headphones of a co-worker and they were very comfortable but I didn't like the sound. I'll check out the Beyerdynamic's, thanks for the input!

The pressure is what makes closed headphones isolate. As you loosen the fit, the headphones will isolate less.
