Best headphones for rock and rap? - Page 2

I have narrowed it down to the Srh-840, Hfi-580, and Pro700 Mk2. Which would all of you recommend?

I have the hfi-580 and they're great with hip hop and electronic music, punchy bass and just fun to listen to. Not very comfortable to listen to for long periods of time, they kinda clamp your head, hopefully this will get better over time

the problem is that hip hop and rock are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Its hard to find a headphone that does both, but imo safe bet would be the 840's. They are the most neutral of the 3 that you picked, so they might not perform as well when it comes to a specific genre, but the overall performance would generally be better.

edit: How bout checkin out the Senn HD25-1 II's, they do both genres fairly well for me. Although not the greatest, (my MTPC does rap better, and 325i's do rock better), they sound fun and are portable at the same time.

Thank you zhang! Would you consider the hd25 worth the $50 price premium over the Shures?

Probably not if you're using them in a stationary setting (like at home), but the sennheisers definately benefit from the added portability if you choose to take them around with you.

I actually just found a pair of hd25 for $120. Would the Srh-840 be worth a $30 price premium over the hd25?

make sure they are the hd25-1 II, not the sp.

I think my main decision now is between the Ultrasone hfi-580 and the Hd25-1. Thoughts?

How are the vocalist on these two? That's the mainthing I find the turbines to lack.
