What are Grados made for?

I keep hearing people say that Grados are very niche sounding headphones, but do they have a sole purpose music genre wise?

Sole purpose? no. But they do pair very well with Rock and Jazz, in my opinion.

Almost anything with guitars, really.

Further than that, I find that anything with a lot of texture to it is very cool to listen to on Grados.  Back when I had a pair, I loved listening to string quartet stuff, even.

String quartets DO sound great on Grados, including everything else.

Niche?  I got your niche.biggrin.gif

Rock, Metal, Jazz, Classical, It's all about the grado color.

rock on grado!

Rock, Jazz, Classical + every other genre.

What makes them niche is that they have a uniquely colored sound that might only appeal to certain people.

Rock is what they do best though IMHO

the sr-325 didn't sound very colored. i enjoyed them alot, until i got the rs1 and then i preferred their warmth and better bass.

Rock and Jazz. They're f****** hella awesome with Dick Dale and all surf rock. That's what sold me on mine. biggrin.gif
