headphones with bass like dre studio <$200

Living in UK, look for some home listening headphones that have ridiculous bass.

Heard dre beats studio (~ $336/£279) in a store and I loved the way they were virbatin off my ears, full deep bass and nice sound.

I don't wanna spend the money for the brand name, can any one recommend some good headsets? I tryed HD-25 and found the cups too hard on the ears for prolonged listening, really lookin for the vibration that the dre's provided.

Also tryed the model up from the beats in the store with the larger head cups (pro model i believe) and found that it didn't have the same "virbration" feel, so even tho they were a good few dollers more.

Anyone can recommend some good headsets that recreate that experience?

some audio technica pro700mk2!!!

I'd go with the PRO700MKII if you want quantity and quality, but if all you want is massive quantity you could get an XB700.

Cheers for the responses, actually lookin at the XB500's right now as the most likely as i'm on a budget or so. I'm not too worried about leak or can size but i really am lookin for that quantity with the clear and clean reproduction.

I do listen to range of music and would like it to all sound nice. I have a set of in ears so i'm not goin to be lookin for anything too portable, just something thats loud enough that the neighbours aren't goin to be complain about the subs late at night.

I currently own a pair of H-Fi 780's which have a good bass being a closed set which also makes them good for sound isolation. You can get them on amazon for 150$ I believe so that would be below you budget.

As I said isolation isn't that important, but i think comfort is something that i'm definitely lookin for and the Sony's look pretty nice to me so far. I would like to reach for the PRO700MKII but i'm too tempted by something more entry level, would you say the XB700's are a worthwhile upgrade from the XB500's?

Try hfi-580. It has a good amount of bass while not drowning the rest of the audio spectrum, and even prominent treble. It is said to have more bass than the hfi-780 too. They are good for electronica music and rock as well. The price of it is currently $118 on amazon (since x'mas til now), which they normally sell for $150~190.

To clarify I am lookin for something that recreates somewhat the bass response of the dre studios, I haven't heard many high end sets but I was seriously impressed by the bass response, at times they felt they were going to shake off my ears.

Although the pro's were more solid and didn't shake around so much I didn't find they provided that "club" feeling and the shake, the sheer bass response that may not of had the clairty of the pro's but felt like a lot more 'quantity'. I listen to a fair amount of downtempo too so I would like the mids to sound nice enough too.

Any shops in on the UK high street where I could test out a few of these sets?

I heard the dre beats in the new headphone section of HMV.

Not at all honestly, the XB500s actually have more bass than the 700s overall, I believe the 700s improve on the soundstage but most people prefer the XB500s with a little EQ tweaking. See here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c45C-AKAHEA

And after a lot of researching (a good few days) I've decided to go with the DT-990 Pro 250ohm for my next set (upgrading from the XB500s myself)

From my research of forums and listening to opinions the XB range really has a ear gouging bass that almost has no competition, the difference is the XB-range is muddy and the spectrum is too in favour of the bass, unfortunately the upgrade paths for even more bass (notice more and not better) is basically none, the only step up is tighter bass that doesn't drowned the mids as much.

So to close I'd say it'd be almost impossible to find headphones with more bass than the XBs and you should be looking to getting better overall headphones if you wish, here are a list of headphones recommended to me on my search for more/better bass coming from the XB500s;

DT-770 Pro 80ohm (£122 from http://www.gak.co.uk)

DT-990s in general (I'll be getting the Pro 250ohm's myself soonish, £122 again from http://www.gak.co.uk)

Ultrasone pro900 (one of the most recommended, but out of your price range I believe, about £250-300)

HD25-1 ii (again quite recommended but not for me due to size (shallow I know) you can get them for £140 if you look)

XB500s (For bass on a budget)

Hope that helped a little.

And keep in mind given the price the XB500s are the best cans for bass on a budget, upgrading from these have been a struggle due to that.

Alrite cheers, I would like to take the plunge as it were and get a set of the Sony's as it's going to be a vast improvement on my current indoor cans. I might pop into the Sony shop this mornin an see what's goin on, i'm not too aware of many other shops where I might be able to compare the quality of such things.

I'll be buyin em online but there isnt quite nothin like tryin em out for real.

I think someone mentioned before that the hfi-580 has the same amount of bass as the beats studio, if not more. They're able to provide the "vibration" you mentioned. Also, if you're looking for a "club" like experience in headphones, I think you should take a look at the Pioneer HDJ-500. I've not tried it before, but referring to this thread, Dsnuts said that they have big, bold bass with a "big club like sound". Hope this helps smily_headphones1.gif

For the record HD-25's were loud enough but so uncomfortable that I couldn't keep em on for near enough 20 minutes! hah.

I appreciate your prompt responses on this topic, you've been good fellas, cheers honestly.

Anywhere in the UK where I can try any of these sets, you gotta appreciate that i'm wary of buyin a set just on the basis of internet reviews :)
