Fake AKG Q701?? ...no serial number on headphone or the box! - Page 2

Yea the serial numbers being removed is a clear sign of stolen headphones. I would return them immediately and get all your money back plus shipping charges or threaten to press charges against them.

Wonder if they were stolen from AKG before the serial number was applied?

Maybe post about this anonymously to an AKG forum, see what answers pop up.

Maybe they are refurbs/returns being sold as new,

removed the serial number so it's not possible to find out they have been pre-owned.

Looks to me as if the serial sticker on the box was removed, so it was probably stolen from some other retailer.

Removing the serial would be more questionable than if it were just kept on though, wouldn't it?

Anyways, perhaps the reseller who sold it to the OP did not realize it was missing a serial (unless the OP bought it off some ebay type of site).

I bought them from a retailer in Sweden as well. Got them today and when i opened the box i saw that the seal was broken and it was missing a thing that holds it still in the box. I got suspicious and searched the web and found your post. I dont know how i should follow this up. Sent you a PM! What is the correct thing to do in this situation?

Most definitely contact AKG. They might go as far as asking you to unscrew them and check driver serial numbers or something and maybe send you an authentic pair for your hassle :) it doesn't hurt to ask, tell them you can open them up and help investigate the shady seller(s)

Well that would be the dream scenario. They could just tell me to send them back to AKG and then I'm left with nothing.

If it's stolen merchandise, AKG may not want to reimburse you for your loss.

Hi Weson and everyone,

I'm working late hours so I haven't had the time to respond to your PM. What I did was as follows: You are familiar with this retailer so log into your account on their website, go to "Mitt konto", and go to "Varuretur" and then click on "Retur". Follow the instructions. This only applies though, when regretting your purchase and returning a product purchased on the net within the time limit of 14 days after receiving it ("Distansavtalslagen"). I contacted them accordingly because it was during this time limit. I also called them today and came through and wanted them to replace the headphones with a "new" pair. But according to the guy on the other end of the phone they couldn't do that 'cause apparently we are not the only ones that this has happened to, so the issue is being discussed with Harman Kardon who is the owner of AKG, and to receive a "new" pair of headphones would take several months. I don't know about that...but they were willing to take the headphones back and pay my money back.
