Fake AKG Q701?? ...no serial number on headphone or the box!

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a pair of AKG Q701 and noticed that there is no serial number on the headphone nor the box. There is a "Serial number" text on the box but it's empty underneath - no serial at all. As I have understood there supposed to be a serial number on the headphone, inside the headband on the left side if I'm not mistaken. Can someone who owns a pair of Q701 please verify this. I got them pretty cheap from a swedish reseller on the net, and I'm now beginning to think that they are fake.

Appreciate all feedback...

They should have some serial numbers.  I don't have my box right now, but there is a SN inside the left headband.

Do you have any up close pics of them?  You could take pics of the "Q701 Made in Austria" text or pics of the driver.

Ok, let me just take a couple of photos and I will upload them in a couple of minutes.

The serial number should be displayed inside the headband on the left side. But as it shows above there is none.

This is where the serial number on the box should be but it seems removed. When I received the headphones the box was not sealed.

Serial number removed because these are stolen, maybe?

^^^ That's kinda what I was thinking as well lol. Otherwise they look real, just with SN removed

I will send these back and buy them from another retailer even though I have to pay the double price. If they are stolen the warranty from AKG is not valid right?

most likely so.

If they sound good, why not just keep them?

Well, first of all I don't know for sure if they are stolen or not, it surely seem so though. Why else remove the serial numbers. Second, what about the warranty? What about if they get broken after a few months? Then what? I've just emailed them asking for a brand new pair with a sealed box and the serial numbers intact. I hope this will go smoothly or I will contact the authorities, I'm not kidding. I'm very upset right now. Even though the price I got them for was fairly low, it is still a lot of money, here in Sweden anyway. Sorry guys if I seem upset but that's how I feel at the moment. Thanks for all your feedback.

Did the retailer advertise them as open box or new?

As new.

Oh.  Well then ya, I'd be a bit upset too mad.gif

I hope you get this sorted out for yourself.

I have been thinking about buying some Q701s.  Where did you purchase them....online? ebay?

Could you please give the name if they don't comply with your demands.

Thanks.  I wish you the best.

Return them. Don't hold on to a hot product that doesn't have warranty ;). Good luck.
