I agree.  This is great advice.  Although, I haven't heard the HM5, but many people like it.

Or you could suck it up and not have something for portable use for that 40% of time not at home...

If you can't compromise, the HM5 is your best option.  It is 95% as good as the HD600.

I have not technically listened to the HM5, but I have heard the Fischer FA-003 which is exactly the same as the HM5.

Hey everyone, change of plans, due to my funds stretching out quite a bit.  Here is what I'm getting: Senn HD 600's with the Hi-Fi Man EF2A Tube USB DAC Headphone Amp for at home use, and the Fischer Audio FA-003 for portable use.  I am also getting this chord for my iPod/iPhone: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TH8O7E/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER. I'm sure with my decision, I just want to know if this will all work together?  And is it true the the Fischers won't need an amp when I'm using my iPod, iPhone, and Macbook Pro on the go?  And is the cable I'm buying all I need?  Do I need any adaptors?

Feedback would be great.

Thanks.

Anyone?

The HD600 are a great choice.  Haven't heard the EF2A - so you'd need to get specialist advice on that.  I use an Audio-gd NFB-12 (new one with the filters), and because it is a warmish SS dac/amp, I personally find it pairs really well with the HD600.  Cable looks as if it should work to interface the EF2A and iPod.

HM5/FA-003 definitely don't need an amp.  I use them straight out of my iPhone4/iPod4.  There is not a lot of difference between using the H/P out, and going via LOD to the E11 IMO - not worth carrying the extra bulk, or laying out the extra cost.

Hope this helps.

I suggest you get the HM5 as it is the same as the FA-003, but cheaper. Also get that and the amp first to see if you like the sound since the HD600 is almost the same too.
