Newb question on mini jacks.

I am making my own thunderpants, and I'm getting a custom cable made. It's got a y-split, and each side ends in a mono mini plug. I was looking for mini jacks, and I came across these: http://aloaudio.com/neutrik-female-mini-jack.html . I was wondering if i could put these in each cup to accept the cable, but I don't know if these would work. They say "stereo," so, being as technologically impaired as I am, I was wondering if these jacks would work in a pair of headphones?

I'm not sure you want to do stereo with mono. Also you may want to consider this  before you spend $5 on a cryo'd stereo jack.

Wow, that was incredibly helpful. Is there any difference between the "Gold Connectors" on the gold one and the "Solder Terminals" on the other? I mean, would you happen to know if I could I solder wire to either of them and attach them to my drivers?

Both have solder terminals. The only difference AFAIK between the two is the BG variant has gold plated contacts (the part where the plug plugs into. Should be no difference in sound quality, gold is used to prevent tarnishing / oxidation.

I'd take a look at the datasheet for these as they may be bigger (deeper) than you would want for mounting into cups.

Could you recommend to me some wire, preferably silver, that I may use to connect the jacks to the drivers? Would this stuff be o.k: http://www.vhaudio.com/wire.html#vh18hookup ? (the second item on the page).

I REALLLYYYYY don't suggest that. Solid core is a NO GO on headphones. If you are a statue when you listen to music (meaning your not human...), then you can go with solid core, otherwise GET STRANDED! Not to mention Teflon wire is pretty micro-phonic. Personally I used Teflon wire only because its a durable option, but I make sure to let people know it's fairly micro-phonic.

You can try out DHC UP-OCC:

Maybe some ALO Audio wire:

You can consider a much more manageable option:

Unlike teflon and PE, a guy who used this stuff said it lacked micro-phonics.

Well, seeing as how I'm already getting the cable from double helix, I think I will complement his excellent customer service by buying his wire.
