Flaw in my Setup.

I have a laptop (asus g51), HRT Music Streamer, Schiit Asgard, headphones (1/4,1/8) and Audioengine A5. Now when i was planning and purchasing these products, i made sure that everything could connect but my flaw was that they cant connect at once. Now im forced to switch the rca outputs on the asgard, connect it to the A5 using a rca to 1/8 adapter. Im wondering what i could do to make this more convenient like WA5 (definitely not in my price range atm).

 

Sorry noob question but what does preamps do?
