What would benefit me more. Mobile With w/ E11 or Sony Mp3

Hello,

I have been keeping an eye on this forum for some time now but have decided to sign up today :)

Okay, I'll start with a quick brief before I go into my question. I have a pair of Sennheiser 428's and have been using them with my mobile phone (HTC HD7) but I found the quality to be terrible and though it was something to do with my headphones so after weeks of feeling bad about my purchase I plugged them into my Acer laptop and the difference in sound was amazing! Everything was so much clear, bass was actually bass instead of light, distorted thumps! Than I started searching on the internet and came across the FiiO portable amp's but found out using them through a 3.5mm port isn't going to do much unless it is used with a LOD. SO while searching (Trying to find anything but a iPod) I came across a Sony NWZ-E463( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NWZ-E463-4GB-Walkman-Black/dp/B005AWY4XW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326646999&sr=8-1 ) that has a LOD. And I ONLY have a £50 amazon gift card to spend.

SO my questions are:

1. Is it correct that an FiiO E11 would not be much use on my mobile phone?

2. What would benefit/sound better me. My phone with a FiiO E11 amp using a 3.5mm connection or just using a Sony MP3 stated above instead of my phone and with an amp. (I could later by a LOD for it and amp but that would be a small posibility)

1:Correct(to an extent) you will dual amp(use both the E11 and HTC's amp togehter) and have a muddy noise ridden distoring combo.. due to the HTC

2:using the Sony MP3 with the E11 will be of course the best :)   i know the walkman's can use and LOD but don't know if urs can. it probably can.

use it with this. i don't know what DAC and internal ciruitry is in the sony. but whatever is in it is going to be guaranteed better than what you currently use.

 

For 50 Euro..not really muh is availble. Most use ipod's here. But yeah. 

 

Get the Sony, LOD and an E11. you will love it.

My acer laptop has some dolby advanced audio stuff but I doubt it's that much above an average laptop sound and yeah, I know £50 is not alot but my HTC's music quality is annoying.

However, my friend just offered me an iPhone 2g (iPhone 1) for the amazon giftcard. Is that better than the sony walkman?

Hmmm. i might have to say yes on that one. i dont know what is in the sony walkman so to say, and it is known that a Wolfson Chip is in the original iPhone. only problem is space. im sure you can upgrade the space of the walkman with a microSDHC card. the iPhone is static however. Man head fi'ers like the sound of Walkman's..but hmm maybe. if the space/size isnt enough then the walkman might be the best bet. But the only question is that it's impossible to get a review for every Sony Walkman out there on Head-Fi

 

 

Hmm...  I was was reading up on all of this audio stuff and now I think I'm going to use that giftcard for a FiiO E11 and invest my own money into a good portable player, I'll head out and compare reviews. Thanks for putting me on the right track!
