Higher end version of DT880? - Page 2

It's weird that people are suggesting T1.

Everything I've read says it's very mid-forward, and thus the opposite of DT880.

I wonder if I asked for a higher end version of the HD650, people would suggest the HD800 - when those 2 couldn't sound more different!? (ie. the HD800 is a revolution, not an evolution).

But the T1 DOES sound like the DT880. except with better mids and imaging. If you like something with recessed mids, uh maybe the D7000?

I have heard every single headphone you guys have mentioned except for the HE-4.  If you want a better DT880, the T1 is without a doubt the new DT880.  The HE-6 is also very similar to the T1 except with better mids.  Slightly different sound but better to my ears especially if you have the amp to drive it.  The HE-500 isn't as similar to the DT880 as the treble is a bit too "tamed" in comparison.  HD600 would be wayyy different from a DT880 sound - smooth, really smooth, too smooth with super tamed treble.  HD800 would be the most extreme deviation sounding quite thin and just plain different.

Go with a T1 if you like the sound of the DT880; it will be a significant upgrade with almost the same sound signature.  Go with an HE-6 if you want a significant of the DT880 but want neutral to slightly forward mids version.

The D7000 sounds nothing like the DT880, which someone just suggested.

The HE4 is a more refined DT880/DT990, in that it has a nice lower end, still has recessed midrange like the DT880/DT990, and sparkly treble. The only thing the Beyers do better is soundstage which is a little larger on the DT880 over the HE4.

The HE4 spanks both the Beyers quite resoundedly.
