W1000X Pad mod

Hi,

I just got the W1000x quite cheap for 28.000 yen. Now I have read in earlier posts that it's possible to use the L3000 pads for a W1000X headphone. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any of those here in Japan.

I have however found this website: http://torapo.com/other/hp.htm#l3000

The guy is essentially applying Stax ST-007 Pads to his L3000. Now I was wondering whether this would also work with the W1000X. Considering the 130$ for the pads I want to make sure this works before shelling out that much money. Has anyone tried this before?

Update: I can confirm that the L3000 lambleather pads so in fact work with the W1000x. They are called Audio Technica HP-L3000 and I bought mine here:

Considering the steep price of 5000 yen (70 Dollar) I didn't find them to be as much of an updgrade as I had hoped. Granted, they are made of real leather and feel better than the pleather pads that came with the W1000X but they kind of feel cheap to me. They don't even smell like leather. As far as I can tell they could be made of some artificial material as well. So had I not looked at the inside and seen that they are in fact made of leather I would have guessed they are pleather as well. Oh well. I consider them to be a luxury upgrade but they actually feel quite a bit better and not as hot on my ears.

Edit: The best investment EVER! The leather pads do actually make a huge difference in how long I can wear the heaphones without my ears getting overly hot. For anyone owning a pair of AT-Cans with large drivers, I would definetly recommend this. Considering to purchase some for my AD2000 as well.
