Bass Lover here, DT770 vs D1100 vs HFi 580 vs Pro700MK2 vs Crossfade LP1/LP2

i am currently incredibly confused between all of these, the HFis are known to have bass but according to frequency response charts on headroom their bass is significantly lower than the others mentioned, so i don't know how these will do. Which one of these has the best bass I mean bass like that of a car subwoofer. Also don't suggest the XB500, i tried them but did not like the muddy sound. Also what is the difference between the LP1 and LP2, they seem to be perfect for the bass i want but i hear they leak a lot of sound, is that correct. I am not gonna be using high quality source, using spotify premium(320kpbs songs) and no amp(may get a cheap Fiio amp though)

Fiio E11 and Ultrasone Pro 900 (second hand if cash is tight) = basshead dream.

yeah i have thought of that many times but that is gonna be too expensive, i can't afford to spend more than 200$. Sorry should've mentioned my budget

beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm, what a classic.

Never listen to frequency response graphs. They might be technically correct but they don't give you a good idea of how the headphone sounds. The Ultrasone has fantastic bass, but I wouldn't recommend it for a poor quality source as its treble emphasis will bring out the flaws in your music.

Try out the XB700, it's a huge improvement from the XB500 and it sounds perfect for you.

Ok, so how good is the bass on the beyers, i have read mixed responses, some say the bas is great whereas there are a few who have said that the bass on the 770s is not for a bass head.

About the XB700 does the bass cloud over the other frequencies like the XB500?? I read a review and it said it is pretty much similar to the 500s in that

Modded MEP-839? Only $21, $38 with pad upgrade. Once modded, the mid-bass is a monster.

I think it's much better personally. Do you have a Best Buy near you? They usually have an XB700 to demo.

I once thought the Pro 900 would be good, but after playing out at a store I'm completely disappointed. The sound is "S-Logic-ed", or simply put, distorted. The bass is strong but completely overdone. But if you want an otherworldly experience on tracks as opposed to a more accurate tone then go for it.

I got the DT770 Pro80 in the end. Nice treble and bass, I also love the laid back mids and soundstage. One of the best choice in my life, lol I'm becoming a Beyer fanboy!wink.gif

Imo, its a bad synergy with the amp or drivers problem, because the sound from Pro900 is not distorted at all.

Overdone? well, pro900 has a lot of mid bass and can be very punchy, but DT770pro is as much "overdone" in the bass department. Not the same kind of bass, but they are both exaggerated and technically speaking, pro900 is much better than DT770pro imo. DT770pro is more for the easy listening, pro900 can be quickly tiring.

How is the bass on the DT990 250ohm? How does it compare to the DT700, HFi 580 etc?? I found a pair of used DT990s for a reasonable price, should i get them. Also what kind of amp would best to drive the DT990s or the 770s, i hear they both require a decent amp. I am not looking to spend more that 80$ on the amp. Will the E11 be good enough.

Any bass head who is not satisfied by the bass of the DT770 is basically a lunatic for bass. Id recommend the Digizoid ZO with the DT770 if you really need that extra bass.

I have heard great things about the XB500 and its tremendous bass impact. Worth looking into IMO.

The DT990 has decent amount of bass for an open headphone, especially if you get the Pro version, which is likely if it is cheap. I do not know how it compares to the 80 Ohm DT770 that I do not have but has a reputation of being quite bass heavy, but it may actually have more (mainly mid and upper) bass than the 250 Ohm version. If you do not mind leakage, and look for bass emphasis centered around 100 Hz (still decent extension as well), then the DT990 Pro is a good option.

The E11 has good sound quality and is reasonably powerful (~30 mW into 250 Ohms), although it is portable-only, and an external power supply can only be used for recharging the batteries. If that is not a problem or you actually need the portability, it is a decent choice for the price. The E9 is slightly more expensive, but if you are looking for a desktop setup, it may be preferred, and it also offers plenty of power.

I would compare the experience of DT770 Pro-80 as standing beside an artillery and firing it, and the experience of Pro 900 as being soooooooooo wasted by the bombardment. Still I sometimes desire MOAR BASS with the DT770 guess I'm becoming a bass junkie or something.

I can recommend the E9 for the DT770 Pro 80 ohm as an entry setup, but I again recommend getting a prettier amp for 250 ohm and up.
