Next step up from Grado SR80's?

Hey guys, seems like a stupid question I know but I'm looking to get some new cans. Something over-ear, I've only ever owned these Grado SR80's and some Fostex T50RP's I never got around to modding. I was considering the following..

 

HiFiMAN 400

 

Denon 2000

 

DT 700 250ohm

 

 

My source:

 

Foobar2000 using WASAPI > Maverick D2 (USB) > Maverick A1 

 

Any suggestions would really be appreciated, thanks guys! :D

Get those Fostex again. With about 20 minutes of modding, they can sound worlds better than the Beyer and Grado, and almost as good as the HiFiMan and Denon. I could even do it for you, for less than the cost of new headphones.

 

It's just that you're comparing $80 headphones and $500 headphones, so I'm not sure you have any idea where to go either; so I threw you a curve ball.

Exactly, I just started getting into this audio stuff not too long ago. I still have the T50RP's but don't even know enough to know how to mod them, I've looked through all the modding threads but the thing is I don't even know the terminology you guys are using (baffle, reflex dot etc).

But I do know I really love music and this stuff is very very interesting to me.

Denon D2000's are a solid choice.

 

I'd love to try the Hifi 400's personally.

 

Sorry I'm a Grado fanboy, I gotta say try the SR-225... they're magnificent. Was there something you didn't like about the Sr-80's?

if you can afford imo look to ms2 ( or rs2 .. ) .. the other in the grado ladder would call for upgrade soon ..
