Edit: I also listen to Beck, how will the grado's fare.
Yep, Beck's grungy eclectic style jams just nicely ~ I've got 'Devils Haircut' and 'Lost Cause' on the portable right now.

I need treble, on the HM5's the cymbals sound kinda weird and recessed.
Edit: I found out that the sr325is sounds horrible in classical music, and does horrible in piano, is this true? I love the piano!
Mmm it'd give piano the airyness it really needs and it has the mids to create the warm and fuzzy feeling you get when listening to some of those recordings. I'm actually thinking of when I listen to Yo Yo Ma which is cello music... but they're both made of wood and make sounds right? =/
I'm kidding I do listen to piano music actually, it's become a staple of my reference listening repertoire now.
I wouldn't say you ever "found out" anything about a headphone as if someone's opinion is the absolute truth either, everybody's ears are quite different and I've heard some completely backwards stuff come out of people who's ears I trust on here haha
Just get 'em on amazon and if you don't like them, take advantage of their great return service.
Hmm, the 325is is a headphone I think you'd REALLY need to try before buying. It has a, well, wild treble that may be too much for some ears. I had to modify mine a lot and replace the metal cups with wood ones before they stopped hurting my ears, though it may be a non-issue for some people.
The 225i is a safer bet IMO, or even the MS2i, which sounds similar to the 325is but with bit tamer treble and deeper bass.
I have the hd650s which are pretty similar to the 600s and I love them. Id say go with those
One could not potentially weigh up between either the HD650 or 325i ~ they're totally
polarized in terms of signature
Buy both if you must for the taste of difference but faced with one choice ~ they're totally
different. One is snappy, fast, bright, forward the other is laid back, forgiving, lush.
I wouldn't say powerful, I would say very clear and pronounced compared to the HD650 which is laid-back and can sound slow or sluggish with it's darker sound compared to the bright upper mid/treble centric 325is.
They're both completely two different headphones, nearly polar opposites and if we're talking about sound quality it's a win win scenario. Open preference listeners such as myself are happy with either one in their stable. I recommend the 325is to people who ask because I am confident that the guy I'm recommending this to who I've never spoken to or met in real life is going to get relatively the same sound signature that I'm going to get with them as they are Grados versus HD650's which introduce a lot more variables on the field such as transport, DAC, and amp. Shizzle even friggin Cardas cables change the sound enough for people to recommend the plunge on them, not that I recommend cables as a first upgrade to your rig at all ever...
They're both very good, neither is the "proper" headphone, they're not neutral, or properly analytically accurate. You don't hear the music as it was recorded since both are centered around maximizing listening pleasure at the expense of not being "proper" to audio purists out there.
I'm a Grado fanboy and probably will be for a while, but Sennheiser has it's place for sure. After all, I have HD580's.
They're brilliant, but they're a different headphone ~ aimed at pro audio guys on the go, TV camera men, and just general folk who
want an amazing on-ear portable. Bests the HD25 in my book.
Still no match for a 325i off a serious desktop setup but for portable usage? DT1350.
