Well, the Sennheiser HD-201 turned out to be the best one.

Some while ago, I was casting about for some headphones that I'd use mostly for voice:  Radio, tracking vocals on recordings, podcasts and books, and so forth.

Everything that I tried or was recommended to me had some kind of ugly bass boost.  Maybe when I was 13 I would have wanted bass boost on everything, but I haven't been 13 for a long time.  So anyway, the noble folks here noodged me, after a couple false paths, toward the Sennheiser HD-201, and despite its relatively large size, it's a dream come true.

It's a bit cheapish in build and sound, but once you acclimate to it you notice that the sound is quite clear and extremely free of any annoying qualities.  I haven't had it on for a whole day yet but I expect that it will be fine in that regard.  It's sound vaguely reminds me of the famous broadcast mic the RE-20.

So, make a note.  If smooth, clean voice rendition is what you want, this is probably your set.  Especially if you have a recording studio and you need something closed that is cheap enough to not have to worry about the clients breaking it or irrevocably infecting it with some horrible disease.

Sincere thanks to you all.

PS It's a shame that the marketing rats have to assign this model with the attribute "Powerful Bass!!".  If anything, they should be saying "Rescues You from Grotesque Bass!!"

Not a bad headphone for under $20 bucks - surprising and satisfying sound quality!
