Hi, First of all, I would ask you to forgive my poor English, since I’m French..thank you
My question is quite simple, concerning mp3 portable player use, not really hi-fi issue I admit I own the little sansa clip+ which i currently combine with a Sennheiser PX100-2 that I really appreciate a lot
I mostly listen to pop/rock music (stones/beatles/kinks/Dylan/doors/neil young/bowie and so on…) but also to french singers and a bit of classical (mainly symphonic style), in mp3 320k or ogg. files
I hesitate to upgrade to one of the 2 following combinations, instead of my Senn PX100-2:
- Headphone amp fiio E11 + Grado sr225i
- Headphone amp fiio E11 + Beyerdynamic DT880 32 ohms
Do you think they are nice to work with the sansa clip ? (I also have a stereo with amp but I listen to music through headphones with my clip more often)
Need your help to choose, feedback and opinions are welcome !!!

Thanks a lot

I think that for classical and rock, the grado would be the better option. The Beyers are fairly bass heavy (never heard them though, correct me if I'm wrong!) which I personally dislike when I am listening to classical music. The Grado's are known to be very good phones for Rock genres. That's just my two cents.

P.S.: You're English is quite good! Punctuation seems to be your biggest problem. :p

grados!!

I own both grado 225's (not 'i' version) and beyerdynamic dt 880 (600ohms version)

I've never heard the dt880 32ohm version, but it's generally understood that the beyers sound MUCH better with a tube amp (not portable).

the grados are easy to drive, and sound amazing with the types of genres you listed. both are great cans, although i'd side with the 225i's over the 880's.

Thanks for your answers !
So the Grado seems to be a more suitable choice !
Can you confirm the E11 will be a real improvment with the Grado ?

Any other opinions, users of both Grado and Beyerdynamic ?

I would choose Grado as I own it and I also got the E11. It really textured every song I've heard. If bass is the problem, all I did was play around with the E11's EQ to match my taste. You can also do a mod with the Grados which is a good addon if you ask me.
