If I were you I would follow this guide:
_________________________________
- Get flac files and not MP3 low bitrate files or at least high bitrate files.
- Get flac player on iphone if you don’t want to deal with apple lossless or find software that converts flac to apple lossless + EQ app.
- Get a dac for iPhone like streamer 2 or Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm Solo, fostex (amp + dac), or any of other options out there. (This would give the biggest sound improvement overall)
- Get an amp depending on which headphones you use, you might very well see really good results. IPhone on its own cannot drive a lot of headphones to their max potential.
- Get really good headphones that allow you to enjoy this sweet rig andmatch your preference.
- Try to make sure that whatever you get seems to work well with your other audiophile equipment. Some devices seem to fit well together as if they were meant to be together. They mask each other’s weaknesses and really shine together.
What I’m using currently is IPhone 4 + solo + pico slim + JH 16 pro’s and I’m really enjoying it. However, I plan to get ibasso dx100 dap so I can play my 24bit Vinyl & HR collection without having to resort to using my computer.
Best of luck in your future audiophile adventures,
Mischa
