Slasher, when asking for suggestions, there are certain things you need to tell us in order for us to tell you what's best.

1.Budget :

2.What kind of music you listen to :

3.What kind of sound your looking for : ( lots of bass /very clear / etc.etc.etc.. )

and any other useful information you could provide.  xD

IMHO , the HD439 owns the HD Solo hands down in every aspect, especially Performance: Price ratio.

I think the HD439s would suit you just fine as they promote it as having "an enhanced and outstanding bass performance" though i havent actually heard it before. I trust Sennheiser. xD so yeah.. :P

EDIT:forget what i just said, wait for other people's suggestions. xD

u cant tel sennheisers have very powerfull bass just because dey claim so. for instance i had hd650 a few months bak and i curently have ultrasone pro900...
wen it comes to natural, neutral sound, hd 650 is much much beter than ultrasone pro900... but thats not exactly wat evry1 wants.. atlst not fr me.. because i prefer bassier, punchier music experience and d pro900s r exelent in that..
but in that price range il nly go for a senn.. dey r d best for natural, neutral sound..
ul never regret buying it... and fr d bass, u can use sum sort of eqaulizer... i use equ with my iphone..

Glad you said something.  I gave up trying to read his posts.  I get the occasional misspelling or omitted comma, but that's nuts.

Guys, i almost had the hd439, but i had this chance to test out the hd438, at first the sound was ok but when i put up the volume to max, the sound became distorted and has crackles. The phone is connected to a nakamichi cd changer/player which is used for testing cds in a music bar. So i thought of going back here and ask if it might happen to hd439. Btw, i will be using the hd439 in a rooted android device with voodoo mod which significantly increases and improves the audio.

Thanks

Why would you ever be listening to headphones on max volume out of a full-sized cd player?
