beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 250 ohm Vs 80 ohm

so im looking in buying a pair of beyerdynamic dt 770 pros, just narrowing it down to get the 250 ohm or the 80 ohm version. i want to be able to use them on the go and at my computer while playing games. i just want to know whats the real difference between them and what kind of amp/DAC ill need to drive them.

80 will be easier to drive and should work ok out of your computer and an average portable amp is all you need for them.

 

the 250 ohms also sound more balanced while the 80 ohm pros are bass monsters.

They aren't too hard to drive, so a decent portable amp will get you going. Something like the Fiio E11 would work well.

lol thanks for the info, but i ordered a pair of 80 ohms last night. but since your talking bout amps, should i get the E11 or the E7 for my headphones?

I was referring to the 80ohms. wink.gif

The E7 is ok. the E11 will be a better amp.

if you don't have a decent soundcard for your computer, the E7 will act as an external soundcard (dac), which will be beneficial. However, I would recommend waiting on the Fiio Alpen (aka E17) to come out next month which is both a good amp and dac (the successor to the E7), though it will cost around $150.

the e17 's a litle outta my price range and i have an onboard soundcard so im just gonna go with the e7

If you just use it for the computer, the E10 would be an improvement over the E7, but it HAS to always be connected via USB.

If it's mainly portable... the E11 would be better, but since you will be using it on the computer too, I guess the E7 is a safe bet. Don't worry, the DT770 pro 80 sounds good off the E7.

No, I still own and love mine. Best $100< purchase I've had. You can also save up for an E9 later to have the E7 dock to it, and really make the DT770 pro 80 sing off your computer.

If I didn't own one, I would have definitely saved up for the E17 releasing next month though.

i havent bought a e7 yet if ur looking to get rid of yours to upgrade to the e17

Well, i won't be upgrading to the E17, as I'm going the Audio GD route and getting the NFB 3.1 or 2.1 (still undecided).

If and when I need to get rid of the E7, I will most likely be giving it to my brother... sorry. Besides, I have a 1st release version of the E7 which is inferior to the newer E7's in terms of the amp portion.
