It is, a bit. Not to the proportions some of these "experts" would have you believe. Of course, some of them are comparing the S4 to a lot more costly and refined alternatives.

Personally, I preferred the S4 to the RE-262.

If what you say is true then I should try them out sometime. I just hope that they won't remind me of the CX300s.

The TF10s are in a completely different price range and have a different sound signature, so you shouldn't be comparing these two.

Well, it's better to try them out first before recommending people not to buy them. wink.gif

For the price, I think they are a good pair of IEMs. They're fun to listen to. They're not going to fart in your head unless you bass boost them..

Cnet says the S4 BEAT headphones that are MUCH higher priced. All I am saying is their rating for them is too high.

but the 700x really plays it for what it's worth, that and it's mega uncomfortable.

Now my friend told me that Nuforce have a better bass but Brainwavz m2 got better sound quality.

Is that right ??

I'm, somewhat a newb too so I thought I would bump this thread.

I bought a pair of NuForce 770's and they came with a broken right driver. Something was loose and the sound would cut in and out when you tried to adjust it. So I sent them back in and got a replacement pair and after a day and half, the right driver was dead completely!!

I don't know what the deal is with NuForce products. I'm going to return these as well and am now looking to try something different under $100. I found this thread and am gonna check out the Brainwavz and Visang R03.

I have a pair of Yuin PK3's that are nice for listening to while riding my bike or at work or whatever, but they don't compare with an IEM. I need help. I hate NuForce right now.

I haven't seen these consumer reviews praising the S4, but what I really like about my S5i is that it was cheap when on sale, has a small inoffensive nozzle and soft tips, has large bass, and has a 3-button mic. When I listen critically I tend to dislike the bass quality. It's not too much bass compared to a good basshead earphone, but it is too bloated and muddy.

The Image S series IEMs seem to go on sale very frequently. At $50-$70, it's a lot of IEM, especially with the remote.

By contrast, the TF10 does everything better sonically (even mids IMO FWIW), but doesn't fit everyone well, caused me comfort issues, and inspires very many redundant threads on Head Fi about where or how to get an inline remote for it. With a high MSRP, a decent but still rather high street price, and a hidden cost of ownership (horrible cable, inadequate tips, ear rape), that's a bad consumer review in the making.

Audiophiles put up with it because the TF10 is the 5" stilletto FM pump of audio. And because we would actually consider spending another $150 to be able to use a $150 (street price) earphone.

Haven't heard the other earphones in this thread. Just addressing the reviews of the Klipsch and its comparison in this thread to the TF10.

OK, you may doubt me on this, but if you get the Phillips SHE3850, it is fantastic for the $15 USD price.  It is very balanced with plenty of ability in the bass and treble regions.  It will give you all the bass you want, but the bass won't crush out the mids and trebles.  The bass on the S4 smashes the mids, and the highs are too metallic and piercing.  NE700 is similar, too bombastic.

Read a couple of the threads about the SHE3850 -- many people have put away their $100+ earphones to use these cheap miracles.  Mine share 50% of the time with my Etymotic ER-4P!

Don't doubt this man's post, it is true. And the Philips earphones are widely available. I had to pick up a pair at Target because it was an audio emergency (ha ha) and they are suprisingly clear across the spectrum, if quite a bit bass-emphasized. No smearing though.

Just mind the model number because Philips make some duds too. SHE358# should all be good I think. Members from the other thread would know better than I.
