Essence ST with E9?

My current setup is PC-Asus Xonar Essence ST-Sennheiser HD650. Would throwing in the Fiio E9 through the RCA outputs of the Essence ST deliver better performance for my HD650's?

No, the ST's amp is better than the E9. They use the same opamp, but the card has better noise levels and channel balance (presumably).

 

Unless your PC is a serious hotbed for radiation, or your power supply is crap. That will increase noise in the card. Though if that's the case you're better off with an entirely external solution, since the DAC will pick up on noise regardless.

How about the Music Fidelity V-Can? I'm thinking of picking it up for $128, is that good? Or would I be better off investing in some aftermarket cables?
