Need help setting up Fiio E9

Yea, so I just registered yesterday. Browsed this site and decided on HD600s and the Fiio E9. They are both coming in the mail tomorrow. I didn't order any cables. What do I need to set this up and plug it into my soundcard?

 

If I need cables, radioshack should have them right?

 

X-fi Fatal1ty Titanium soundcard.

 

And could I have some advice on how to plug this thing in?

I think the E9 has USB connection. Otherwise, just stereo RCA cables.

The USB connection is ONLY used when the E7 and upcoming Alpen/E17 is docked to the E9.

The only input other than the USB is a 3.5mm line in. So make sure you have the proper RCA to 3.5mm cord.

I have the same problem. And I have the same sound card! biggrin.gif

Would it be good to connect from the soundcard with 3.5mm to RCA to the E9. Even when I got a E7 docke on it? (by using sound card output instead of usb. Does this enable my sound card in the sound?)

Ugh........ So I went and got RCA to 3.5mm cables. Plugged it up, and I am getting nothing at all. Have tried every port on my soundcard. Power is ON the e9. I don't understand.

You'll have to go to your sound devices on the computer (usually right clicking the little speaker icon on the bottom right of your task bar) and set the default playback device to the E7, or back to the soundcard, depending on which you want to output the sound.

Please help

Your soundcard may not even have RCA line out... you may have to buy the an external DAC like the Fiio E7 (which you just have to dock to the E9 and run that USB from the E9 to the computer) or if you are just using this for the computer, get the Fiio E10 which will sound better. If you get the E10, hook it up directly to the computer via USB, and feed a 3.5mm male/male cable to the E9's line in. No docking.
