Sennheiser HD558 Amp power

Thread Starter

I was wondering how much power i need to run The HD558? I am trying to find out if an

Onkyo TX-NR609 7.2 Channel Network THX Certified A/V Receiver is enough to power the HD558 and if not what amp or dac should i get to power them that would work through or with the receiver?

With a sensitivity of 112dB and an impedance of 50 Ohms just about any decent receiver will power them fine through the headphone jack.  I know my TEAC does fine with such headphone.

I say go for it!

My Onkyo TX-SR706B had no problem powering my Beyer DT770 Pro 250-Ohm headphones and my Senn HD-558s

and the Senn HD-558 are only 50-Ohms.

Just about any headphone jack can work with 50-Ohm.
