great EQ preset for the XB500(the giant walks)

been checking out different eqs with my XB500. almost everyone have their own tweaks (due to a common complaint of the bass leaking into the mids) ...i found one that 'wakes up the sleeping giant'(@malveaux)...
equalize the headphones by comparing and adjustings its frequency response with that of the XB700. In other words make them emulate the XB700s.

Sounds great >>clearer highs and spacious mids with tight bass!

Umm, are you going to share the equalization?

Uhmm lol, this was my "simulated" feel of frequency balance comparing the two, which was meant to show that XB500 has like a slanting slope balance and XB700 has a slight V-shape balance to it. If you use that kind of EQing to XB500 it'll sound just even more unbalanced as you're just strengthening the shape it already has. If you want to keep the bass quantity while still improving the mids, lower the 250Hz slider especially as the biggest problem from the "muddy" mids comes from the 15dB boost all the way up to 300Hz but yea also boosting the hole range at like 500Hz+ will obviously help but result in less bass quantity as well, but yea the absolutely minimum tweak one can do to improve this is to lower the 250Hz slider to get the 15dB boost rolled-off earlier. To avoid muddying up mids the bass should start roll-off at least by around 200Hz or so from my experience.

it worked very well for me !! thanks ..the treble doesnt feel light any more coz of the upper mids ...and the bass is more tighter coz sub-bass from 125Hz to about 500 Hz is lower in volume...i believe that the lower bass frequencies are responsible for eating the mids and not the upper bass...
this myt be an accident but please try the preset and see for yourself!

Well using those settings just makes it more unbalanced and doesn't sound great to me, I personally greatly prefer these EQ settings for XB500:

kX Audio driver's EQ:

Realtek HD onboard chip's EQ:

iTunes EQ:

why are you eq-ing the 500 to have even more bass if you're trying to reduce it bleeding into mids?

also:

"the bass is more tighter coz sub-bass from 125Hz to about 500 Hz is lower in volume...i believe that the lower bass frequencies are responsible for eating the mids and not the upper bass..."

do you realize that 125 - 500 hz IS NOT SUBBASS???? that's more upper bass and lower midrange.

side note: the graph of xb500 to about 1khz looks like something an e5 amp would do.

For the XB500 to sound anything remotely decent, I'd EQ for a rising slope, nothing else. It doesn't need ANY more bass than it has, but it needs a helluva lot of treble emphasis for my own ears. Hell, not even that can fix it for me though.
