Headphones for a studio setup- recommendations

Thread Starter

I'm setting up my own recording studio at home and I need some advice on what type of headphones I should get. I don't have the budget for monitors yet since I always wanted to purchase a higher end headphone and replace my senheisser cx-100 as a major upgrade. I'm in a band and we do record our own stuff. A versatile and durable headphone is what I need. It has to be almost as if I'm replacing monitors for my setup. My budget's around $150 to $200 since i still have to consider getting the interface with pro tools and the condenser/mic.

Any input would be of great appreciation as I have been more so confused for the past couple of days if I should get something from senheiser, sony, akg or shure.

Audio Technica ATH-M50.

Fairly flat response at the price point, sound awesome, built really well, and are meant to be used in your situation.  The can be found for $120 or less.

I own a pair if that helps.
