Ipod Classic 160GB or alternatives?

Hey,

I am looking for a portable audio player, that has at least the 160GB an ipod can offer me. But since the ipod is not that great in terms of sound quality, i am wondering if there is something better for an nearly equal price.

I already thought about buying the cowon x7 but it seems really big to me (maybe to big to carry alround all day?) and I'm not sure, if I would notice a big difference with my headphones (Bayerdynamic DT 440). I think I will have to use an additional portamble amp anyway, since this headphones require a quite "powerfull" player.

the latest iPod classic 160gb actually sound very good, and you can use a line out dock with an external amp. I would get the iPod for ease of use, good sound quality and build quality.

The thing that i love about ipod classic is its capacity. Plus the line out which allows the use of an external amp. This may get bulky but for driving a circumaural headphone, this may seem necessary.

It seems the separate headphone amp is required in this event, so ipod is the better choice obviously.
