Confused ):

Hey guys,

I've tried to understand this through google and youtube videos but I'm confused.

A DAC is inside my computer, right? So what's the point of getting an external one? Will my music sound better if I do?

The Fiio e7 is both a DAC and an amplifier. How does it choose which one to be? Can it be both?

The Fiio e9 is a desktop amplifier... If I plug my powered speakers (as in they plug into a socket) into the Fiio e9, will it do any difference?

And finally, what changes are made when the Fiio e7 are docked into the Fiio e9?

A DAC turns data into an electrical signal.  DACs in things like PCs are often made cheaply and always hard to shield from the electrical noise of the rest of the computer so a good external one can sound better.

The E7 has an analog input and a digital input and can send the signal from either on to its amp.

The E9 has more power than the E7 and is best used with inefficient headphones.  It isn't designed to run speakers.
