Beyerdynamic DT860 review - Don't treat it like a step-child... - Page 2

Good review. If they are mids forward, i ll probably try them.

You say more robust than DT770/990, DT860 ear cups are metal/aluminum ?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

i dont know about the 2006? designupdate of the x60 series but before that it had mayor issues with the pivot point breaking. in fact mine just broke a couple of days ago on the left side and right side a couple months ago. im able to repair it and after that theres no problem but i guess not everyone is willing to do so.

its just the plastic getting brittle over time probably.

Thanks.  The cups seem to be very tough plastic, even the shiny silver rings around the grilles.  There might be a strip of metal inside the headband, I really can't tell.

i wouldn't surprise because the x60 series use the same headband as the ultrasone hfi series(ed9 as well) and people reported they have the crack issue.

goldenears.net show that these cans have the closest similarity in response to the hd 800

Holy **** that's a lot of treble energy. xD Typical Beyerdynamic V-shape sound, when will Beyerdynamic opt for a warmer sound signature where mids are at least as forward as highs and possibly some more, they seem to be lacking such headphone.
