Thanks! I did find a use for the teflon stuff though, rewiring my monoprice cans. already done it, replaced the jack with a nice gold plated one, added foam, and bluetacked em. They sound ridiculous now. just need to sort a slight loudness difference between the left and right channel now. gotta measure the full resistance of both sides make sure there isnt a discrepancy there.
