Need suggestion for amp that has good synergy with low impedance headphones

I did some search and found nothing on such topic, but if such topic has been covered before, I'm sorry for this redundant post and please enlighten me.

I need an amp that does well with the Audio Technica woodies. With some search, most of the DIY amps don't do so well with low impedance headphones at all. So, I'm wondering if there are amps that suit me. I'm currently interested in Yamamoto HA-02 which costs a grand and guaranteed to have great synergy with AT headphones. Any DIY amp that does not exceed the cost of HA-02 is fine, of course.. it must has equal or better performance compared the HA-02.

Feel free to respond. Difficulty of building is set a side for now, but the least tweaking I have to do the better.

ckkiii (at 4x gain) goes very good with AD900s, should be the same story for all ATs

do you mean 4.1x gain?

found some reviews by cotdt. it sounds pretty intriguing. I might give it a try. thanks.

4x, 4.1x, same thing really. Actually since the ckkiii is mains powered i wouldn't recommend against it for a novice builder if you dont have someone experienced/qualified to assist you.

Also unless you want to take it up as a hobby, its not worth getting involved in diy for a single build, not sure of your exact motivations. Maybe commission a known builder for the design of your choice.

I don't know why you think most DIY builds are not good for low-impedance phones.  Any amp with a buffer will work well with low impedance.  Amps with a MOSFET output in the buffer, even better.  There are many amps that fit that bill: B22, M3, PPAV2, Dynalo, Dynahi, PIMETA, MOSFET-MAX, MiniMAX, even the new Torpedo.*  You could also go with a Starving Student.  There are many others.  About the only thing that won't work well with low-impedance are Bottlehead amps, OTL tube amps, and perhaps the CMoy (although the A47 fixes this for the CMoy).

This gets to be an old refrain, but you might try more searches.  All of this info can be found with a bit of effort.

* Full disclosure: I sell parts and/or kits for a few of these amps.

B22 Drives my D5000's perfectly!

pity you missed 'the wire' quite simply the best amp for lowZ phones ive ever heard. seems unaffected and completely linear with load from under 10ohms up to 600 in fact the latest incarnation which is a low power speaker amp is just the bal-se version with extra buffers and will drive a 2ohm load with limited power but no frequency response aberations
