Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread

FWIW, I'm using Brainwavz pads with my V6s. Almost a night and day difference compared to stock, and not just relating to comfort. The cans went from sounding peaky and shrill to ...well... pleasant, while maintaining its original (better) qualities. At their price, it's almost a no-brainer.

The HM5 pads?

Looks like the V6 is going to be retired. I will be putting them up on Ebay or Amazon soon.

Hey all, I'm not sure if you can post links from eBay on the for sale forum, but I'm selling my V6's as I no longer use them.

Has anyone have their V6 cord go all gooey?  I think mine are dying a slimy death... When I picked them up, the cord was gooey/sticky, so puzzled, I tried to wipe it, just wiping it exposed one of the wire and the wire is just coming apart...  Death by cord deterioration, RIP V6  :frowning2:

Did you leave it in the sun or something
LOL.
That is really odd.

yeah sadly desk at work... We don't get direct sunlight except between 5-6 am, but it seems like even indirect sunlight is enough to destroy them...  :frowning2:   They're quite old though, probably 7+ years old.

And even more sadly, I've been using my AKG 550s now, and they're likely to suffer the same fate..  *cries*

Hmmm... I was just thinking, maybe I could save them with shrink wrap! T worse part is the p part close to the headphones, the rolled part was not so bad I think, so shrink wrap might very well fix the issue!
