Need good basic amp for dt990/600

I am looking to pair a dt990/600 with an astro mixamp. Use it for games and movies mostly. So with the post processing done I see spending 350 or so to be overkill since the souce sound quality wont be great. So mo sacd or any othe audiophile grade source.

Looking to spend about 150 250 max. Looking at maybe a fiio e9or little dot 1.

Any ideas are welcome maybe something to tone down the trebel.

My 990s sound surprisingly good on my Schiit Asgard.

The E9 has plenty of voltage swing for the 990/600s.  The E9's 10 ohm output impedance won't matter with your 600 ohm Beyers but might cause some distortion or FR variation if you get lower impedance 'phones down the line.  The Objective2  is a little more and has just as much voltage swing with negligible output impedance so it will be more versatile with future headphone purchases.

I have never done any diy projects so I am not sure how well it would go for me.

Has anyone tried a phenix g3? I saw zombie x post about it for these headphones. I saw a g3 7 would that by chabce be one thar would not need a converter?

Hey Drastion,

I'm fairly new to the forum, but I've looked at Maverick D1 Its a DAC but it can also act as an amp and its also got input from your computer via USB & Optical(Coslink). It can power 600ohm at 300mW. It is in your price range as well so its work taking a look at.
