Given the memory should be expandable and it does what I am looking for, yes. 

 

Battery life matters though so I either this or an iRiver/iAudio with old school buttons...

If you are looking for sound quality then you can't go wrong however battery life may be disappointment!

Expandable storage is a plus too. So It's all depends upon preferences :)

I suggest to whom ever buys this guy to put Rockbox OS on it. Its a much better OS, allows playing of apple's m4a, ALAC... other such files...also allows for artwork and gapless playback.

Its generally just a faster OS too
