Sennheiser HD 700: Officially Unveiled at CES 2012! - Page 5

Will be interesting to see, what HD 700 can do compared to HiFiMan HE-500, and Lcd 2 rev.2. I don´t know if HD 800 was much better technical than  HE-500 and LCD ? We are yelling in the dark here 

Hey Jude, 

How's the tonal balance on these? 
I love my 650's but they could use some more clarity & detail. 

The 800's swung too far the other way, sounding very detailed, but too bright & thin. (Wife tore them off her head after 15 seconds and never touched them again)

Let us know.

With the refinements of the 700 vs. 800, is an 850 not to far away?

To much money. I refuse to drop that much on a product primarily made of plastic.

Also the sennheiser hd800 is one of the ugliest geekiest things i have ever seen.   

As I've said I don't like the look of the HD 800's, in fact I think they're ugly. The HE90's are the best looking headphones I've ever see.

Personally I've yet to find a better looking headphone than the HD 800. Nothing comes close in terms of breathing quality IME. The frame, the smell, the earbads, headband, weight - it just feels so expensive :) LCD-2 and T1 both feel more solid (less fragile) but neither feel like 1000 dollar headphones to me.

Have fun being called a geek by your peers. They look like something out of star trek. I prefer headphones which look like headphones.

It's all about personal preference ;) I know alot of people who think the HD 800s are sexy headphones, and everyone who gets to try my pair go "wow" when they see them. Just saying :) 

So the rumour is true.  I bet they won't be available until a few months later at the earliest just like HD800.

Eh, too expensive. For me, anything over $500 has both feet firmly placed in the diminishing returns pool. I'm sure it sounds fantastic, though.
