Sennheiser HD 700: Officially Unveiled at CES 2012! - Page 10

Nice impressions, LFF.

It sounds like the right move for Sennheiser given the price point, to make a baby HD800 but not surpass it in performance. Too bad for those hoping for something with the HD650 tonality, though.

Was this the "small, but cute" toy?

I'd love to hear it, especially compared to my current fav the Audeze LCD 2. Sennheiser has not in the past been my cup of tea, I respect them as a company but I've always enjoyed my K702 more then the HD 650 and have also preferred the LCD 2s the HD 800s but I am willing to give this a try. I can understand why people love the Sennheiser sound with its warm and inviting nature but its just not for me, (at least so far). With that said I'm excited for the HD 700 smily_headphones1.gif

Awesome!

Thanks.

This may be a strange question, given the huge price gulf, but how is the overall frequency balance of the HD700 vis-a-vis HD598? Because strangely I find the HD598's balance quite pleasing, although the HD650s are my favorite Senns.

IMHO, the balance of the 598 is more similar to that of the HD600, which IMHO, is a very natural, accurate, open sound. The HD700 has a natural sound that is a bit more thin and lean with the expansive, and much loved soundstage of the HD800. Which one is better will depend on you.

These look great xD I definitely want to try them... And do they match up to the hd800?

Thanks LFF... I think I'll go buy a HD600 to pair with my HD650 then... and forget about the Senn flagships for awhile. I found the HD598 frequency balance VERY pleasing... I was kind of shocked actually. Even with my penchant for LCD-2 R2, HE-500 (bass heavy, full/lush mid-centric, dark phones)... I found the HD598 presentation beautiful/balanced/effortless and I will never sell it (I originally bought them as a gift to my girlfriend but on many nights I seem to hog it very_evil_smiley.gif

I saw that Sennheiser has a CES 2012 press portal, so maybe there will be more information, that is not covered here yet

IE10?  Please Sennheiser, Please!

Yea right, 1000$ bucks. These better make it down to 600$ really quickly. If Sennheiser discontinues their product lines HD 6xx and tries to gouge the industry like this then they're screwed. Looks like Hifiman is the only one in the industry who's the right idea to me.. And they're coming out with lots of revamped improved products!

It also looks like they're they only one's who've listened to their headphone market and designed headphones to what we've wanted them to be.

Silly Sennheiser. I hope they snooze and lose. They need to be taught a lesson. 1,000, heh. Right! Dream on. No ring driver either.,

Why is everyone bitching about price?  They'll go down in price with sale and they're positioned in between the 650 and the 800.  It's really dumb.  Also the design is way better and more modern than the ugly old styling that the 600 have.  I want babies with these phones.
