The best closed headphones to use on a commute, for under $200? - Page 2

I tried the HD25 straight from my iPhone 4 and is sounded pretty darn good to my ears but will be even better with an amp.

Sennheiser is also in the process of releasing a new version of the HD25 with a lower impedance specifically for iPhone type devices as well.

HD25-1 ii - fine straight from an iPod/iPhone. Great for your listed genres, way better than average isolation (I wear mine on the subway and bus system), built like a tank, engaging fun sound - really ticks every button for your needs, imo.

Also it seems like it's between the HD25's and the ATH-M50.  Could anyone compare and contrast those two?

M50 is circumaural and a lot bigger than the HD25s, but probably more comfortable. Both should sound fine out of an iPod.

They don't look that bad... You see people on TV wearing them all the time

+1 HD25. You'd like to spend something like $25 for the FiiO e6 to improve the SQ. It sounds a bit too lean out of an iPod to me.

HD25 or pre-loved ESW-9.

Beyerdynamic T50p is not bad either.  Liking mine so far.
