AKG 702 w/ amp/dac combo.

I have a AKG 702 coming in and obviously it needs an amp. I travel between dorm and home quite alot so I would perfer a dac/amp combo that is "SEMI-PORTABLE", for example, I would consider the NuForce Icon HDP portable. I am only going to be listening music from my computer anyway. As long as its in 1 unit, and its into a backpack i would consider it portable. I don't wish to exceed 500 dollars.

I am been considering the follow units :
NuForce ICON HDP
NuForce ICON 2
Apogee Duet 2
HeadRoom Desktop Amp (... its over the budget, if you guys think its REALLY worth it... i will not be able to get the PSU unit for this).

Anything you guys would recommend?

P.S. side note, how does the HeadRoom Ultra Desktop Amp compare to HeadRoom Desktop Amp? Way out the league or better by a small margin.

Currently, I have a xonar xense and the bundle headphone from a few years ago, but dont ask me to use the xonar as a dac since i would not be transporting this card from dorm to home. I hope that my new setup would be quiet a bit better than my original setup.

Regarding music I'd be playing, 320kbps mp3 @ 44.1 and some flacs.

I will highly recommend the iBasso D7+iBasso PB2(AMPs) and the other DAC/ AMPs like Matrix Quattro DAC, Mini-i, Nuforce HDP, Fiio E17+E9.

my main concern is if it would be able to properly amp my 702s.

For the K702, a headphone that tends to be more on the analytical side, I would suggest warmer sound gear.  NuForce gear tends to be on the bright side(from what I've read) so I would be hesitant to pair their stuff with the K702.  For your price range I suggest:

Audio GD NFB-5

Matrix Cube, Mini-i

Those are combo units that both headphone amp and DAC built-in, so you'll find them to be semi-portable.  Another option that falls in your price range, is pairing Schiit Audio's Asgard with HRT's Music Streamer II.  Not quite as portable, but the combination should prove to be equally excellent.
