about Iqube v1

Thread Starter

I bought the iqube v1 a while ago. Sounds great and is much more natural than the fiio e7 but I hear hardley a difference between using the direct output of my cowon and using it via the iqube. There is a difference in bass but not that much.

Is it just me? It is really natural but I expected more from it.

With Kind Regards,

Theun Spaans

If your headphones are already rather efficient then amping won't show a whole lot of improvement. What are the headphones in question?

I use a beyerdynamic dt990pro and a beyerdynamic dt770m.

Does the cowon have a line out or only one headphone jack?

It only has a headphone jack, but it is possible to make a custom line out cable. I have one but there is no difference between the two for so far I can hear.

I would say spend a whole day listening to one. And then another day listening to the other. using relatively around the same tracks and you should start hearing it

It might also be that the Beyer's aren't that picky :/ STudio/Monitor/refrence headphones should be/have more audible changes to you

What do you mean by this, if I may ask?

Studio, refrence, or monitor cans are for and to show you how music really sounds. They tend to be picky and any differences are usualy picked up and thrown back in ur face hard! Any hissing, distortion or other unlikable things in recordinds and or stuff that is wrong iwth your setup is generally much more audible on these cleaner, neutral professional recording and use designed cans. Beyer's are generally fun cans for bass lovers.

Yes they are full of detail and bass is nice. So you mean the iqube can't make it that much better?

hmm? I don't think I said that. Use it. if you yourself don't and can't hear a difference. IT's time to cut losses. That DAC and amp just isn't for you/didn't provide the synergy you needed. Audiophilia isn't about making urself believe that since it's more epensive and everyone else says it's good that you will hear some god awesome differnce. if you don't hear it at all form any of your equipment. it's time to try another one.

im guessing you are either going to return it/sell it or get a different one? Hmm maybe an E11 will be for you :) ...or a ZO2. Smart Vektor has a new drastic sound that bass lovers love :) if you are a bit sick of that universal sound that fiio has to offer. (plz note that the E11 is noted to be the best sounding amp under FiiO; even better than E7,E10 and just slightly..just slightly better than E17)

I don't think I will sell it. But I want to change the way I use the dock out now. Now I use a jack to tulip cable to transform it to the dock cable. Don't know if this drops the quality down but it is not really handy. Want to change into a jack later on by soldering it. See the picture for how it is now, here: https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=06f84f19bce60ab3&resid=6F84F19BCE60AB3!441&parid=6F84F19BCE60AB3!212&authkey=!AKyN0eqFNVoUBqI . I'm really new on this kind of music perfection so thanks for all answers.
