CES 2012 - What happens in Vegas...

Can´t find any dedicated CES 2012 threads, so I starts one here. I´m sitting i Europe, therefor I can only look enviously at a distance on what is going on.

Sonomax. Etymotic have been making them for a while – but the difference here is that the eers come with a home fitting kit. The system injects silicon rubber into your ears to make a perfect fit for the earpieces, and all you have to do is wait for 4-5 mins until the mould is dry and then attach it to the connector on the headphones themselves.

If you have a headamp that can be used as preamp, a new small power amp from Musical Fidelity could be something worth checking out. Its name is M1 PWR and cost 799 £. Goes 60 W (8 Ohm)

Philips have some new stuff in their bag. Don´t know if this is the best selling point for an in-ear headphone, but it looks very strong and will probably rock biggrin.gif .

Thanks for keeping up on the CES news, as I haven't been. redface.gif The rPac looks really interesting - and cheap! £150 is approximately $230 USD right now - and since the US price probably won't differ too much (maybe $250 at most?), sounds like that could be a great inexpensive transportable 24/96 async USB DAC/amp.

Yes agree, cool little DAC / headamp and not very expensive consider that it is Arcam and they make quality things. Lots of new small 24 bit DACs will come out this year, so this is only the beginning.

The finale version (I hope) of the balanced Bryston BHA-1 headamp rise at last, should have been out 6 month ago, but Tanner kept making changes. We hope for the better. Will cost around 1300 $

The mighty V-Link from Musical Fidelity. Plug in USB cable in one end (up to 24-bit/192kHz) and get XLR or Coax digital out the outer end. Not a DAC but just converter, if you have a DAC with XLR input or old DAC with only coax this will do. Not sure if the marked i big for this kind of device. Cost 300 £ I think.

CES 2012 is closing, but there are probably a lot good stuff out there still. Will post more photos the next days.

Cary Audio has made two headamp, one is solid state class A and one is a tube amp. Will cost 999 $ for SS and 1500 $ for the tube. I´m not familiar with their HIFI, but know they make quite a few stereo amps.
