Aurisonics Impressions and Reviews - Page 52

I might come back on board the Aurisonics train with the 2 Series.  Dale described them to have a "more subtle midrange" and that might be much closer to my preferred sound signature.

Yes, Dsnuts, these much much better than the XBA-4 unless a super-wide soundstage is your thing. But the music won't be as full and as 3-D as it is in the ASG-1. I will be surprise if you don'g dig these. I can't think of any top tier at this price level currently.

So I asked to see if these can be upgraded to a dual driver set up. There is not real word on if these can incorporate a 2nd driver. He seems to think it will be a new housing all together a new design. The upgrade ability would be more along the line of cords and shell designs more so than actual driver placement But the outer shell can be taken out for a different add on so it will be interesting to see if these can be upgraded in the future.. Next week they will send out my ASG-1.

@eric. I was considering getting the a new Sony XBA 3 or 4 but your post got my interest with these instead. I think I made the better buy. Very excited to get my hands on these.

I too look forward to the upgrades as well. The mids are really more for stage monitoring and can get a bit shouty(as previously mentioned) esp. if you want to turn the volume up a notch or two. Can't complain as that is their design but they do miss the perfect signature a bit.

That is encouraging. Ya I wanted a nice upgrade from my lot of earphones and it came down to the new Sonys which is kind of a mixed bag of review and these Aurosonics.. Even though these were initially designed and made for musicians in mind it just makes sense that they have a nice clear pristine detailed monitor presentation which any true music lover will enjoy.. Can't wait to hear some Jazz on these.

I am glad I skipped on the Sonys as not only those would have cost me much more but ultimately some frustration if I didn't like them. Already being sold on the sale forum tells me all I need to know about the XBA-4s lol! I know everyone hears an earphone differently but I find my sound singature to be similar to yours in that I love the GR07 sound but these have even better imaging and detail. I am all over it. I am becoming a fan of the smaller details in my music tracks and if these deliver this wile letting me enjoy the tunes for what they are. I am all about it.

Jade told me that these eq like crazy so if they aren't your sound signature he suggests trying eQ them..I believe him too. With big 15mm drivers these should eQ to be exactly what anyone wants them to be. I look forward to hearing these and will report back to add fuel to the fire. Dsnuts on board!!

For guys that don't like your mids so shouty.  Do the old V eq. Might help.

I've had a chance to burn mine in and they are sounding quite nice--with some Monster triple flange tips. They've smoothed out a bit and I have to say that I agree with Ericp10 that these compete very well as top tier universals.

I think i might also prefer that a little more but as  I'm OK to EQU should be fine. There is too much else going for these phones for my liking.

The 2 Series are likely to cost more at RRP & I doubt Aurisonics will give similar discount second time around having made their mark with 1 Series.

So I have bought the 1 Series & if I discover the upgrade to Dual driver will give a more preferred signature than i can take the driver upgrade path to 2 Series.

I'm quite convinced this will be the cheapest path to get a 2 Series phone & in the mean while I get to enjoy the 1 Series.

The Upgradeability to 2 Series is a bigger Game Changer  than some realise.

That's a HUGE endorsement coming from the Cat Man, himself!!! beerchug.gif

Yes, the beauty of these is that you can kind of shape the signature you want too (more sub-bass or eq down the mids). And it won't distort the sonic beauty of the ASG-1 ....

Just popped these into my ears.  Like many others on this forum, my initial impressions are poor.  They do sound like they need more time to break in, so I'll give them that before posting any details on the sound as I agree with others that initial impressions are often inadequate.

I will say that they are smaller than I anticipated, and I think I'm getting a good fit and seal.  I will also say that the stock tips suck and my Meelec double flanges immediately seem to improve things.

I have a varied tip selection and will see if I can find something that helps these out some.  Did anyone ever start the tip rolling thread that was proposed several pages back?

EDITED as requested.

If anyone is interested in a groubuy, please let me know :)

Regarding the tip rolling thread, not yet.  I'm still waiting on delivery this week for tips that will at least fit.  Perhaps the thread can start with a list of known tips that fits without modifications.

Yeah that will be great for someone to start. I want to order some tips too before my ASG-1 arrives just in case the stock tips don't fit.

Done: http://www.head-fi.org/t/597225/aurisonics-asg-1-which-tips-are-the-best-with-reviews-to-come

Mine are breaking in, so I can't begin to comment on sound yet.  I will provide a more in depth review of the sound and the ways the sound changes with tips towards the end of the week (Thursday-ish).

^Awesome.  Thanks!. I'll be adding my tip reviews by the end of this week.
