The ASG-1 isn't a CIEM, though; it just looks like one. A more reasonable comparison would be with the AS-1b.

What I meant to convey was that, to my knowledge, there isn't a universal IEM on the market that allows for you to upgrade to a successor model, as they are based upon closed designs, so that alone would be a game changer. The ASG-1 is a professional monitoring solution, so it's designed to be easily serviceable, but the image on the site also says "upgradeable". It wouldn't make a lot of sense to me to base the housing of the ASG-1's successor on a different design given that the current one is designed to possess the fit of a custom and is serviceable to more or less 90+% of the population. I'm not sure exactly how much room is in the 1's housing to accommodate a second driver, but I would wager that even in the event of a redesign, it would not change drastically.

I just thought that the 'upgradable' status meant that you could order custom tips to make it basically a custom, rather than being able to turn an ASG-1 into an AS-1 or whatever...

Man, I would sure hope they can be upgraded for additional drivers...now THAT would be a game changer.

So I stated a couple of days ago that the Sony hybrids wouldn't stay on the ASG-1. Well, that was true, but it was the hybrids with the foam under the sleeve. I'm trying the large without the foam and its staying on. Will comment later about the effect on the sound signature.

Well it's obviously just speculation on my part, as Dale is really the only one who knows for sure at this point

Okay, I do not like the Sony Hybrids on the ASG-1. It seem to suck the energy out of the treble and horns...I'm back to double flanges (this time the large transparent MEEL 11 double flanges). Nice... A little less bass than I get with the Senn double-flange, but nice. Highs are coming out nicely..

Dale tells me that he is going to pop in to make an announcement later this evening, concerning future plans, release information, and other topics. He knows not to make a habit of it until he can get set up as a HeadFi sponsor, which is something he plans on doing shortly. So keep an eye out for that.

We've been speculating about a lot of things, and I sort of made a mess of things by talking too much about the AS-2 series, so it will be good to have direct word from the source.

Folks who have the ASG-1, try the monster triple flange on them. It's a very nice match.

I will buy the ASG-1 nex week or so, but will definitely upgrade to the ASG-2 when its released. So curious about DD's, especially a 10mm + 15mm. Sounds awesome.

Yea I'm happy I decided to get the asg-1. If I really like it I'll end up getting the dual custom so I have one set for home the other when I'm out. Get mine soon and very excited.

You must have missed this from Project86

we know of their existence, and we know they will come out at some point, but we don't know enough specifics to count on any of the particulars.

Did I misunderstood something?

Yes, Project86 (and Aurisonics from what it seems) are still not 100% on the particulars (ie the driver configuration/sizes) until further testing is done.
